How to Eat Pomegranate: Exotic Mediterranean Fruits
October 6, 2007
The first exotic tropical fruit we decided to eat was the pomegranate. Since my girlfriend has a Lebanese background she suggested this Mediterraneans exotic treat. The health benefits include Vitamins C and B along with a plethora of antioxidants and other things I can’t pronounce. Its a bright red fruit with little delicious seeds inside. The big question is how do you eat the darn thing. Here is a video of our pathetic attempt on how to deseed a pomegranate. We bought two, a dwarf pomegranate and a regular one. The usual tactic recommended is cut it in half across the “equator”. You then let it soak in a bowl of water and remove the membrane while the seeds sink to the bottom of the bowl. We decided to try a more rare method in which you smack the pomegranite with a spoon… and in theory the seeds come right out. You can see How to Eat a Pomegranate Video on YouTube.
Feel free to give me any suggestions on exotic tropical fruits for next week, hopefully it will not be this disastrous.
